A New Year must: visit to 120 Fenchurch Street

This was our first time to 120 Fenchurch Street, and it certainly met our expectations. Its essentially a viewing platform, with restaurant and bar a floor below, just a short jaunt from Bank station, or super close to Fenchurch Street overground.

The entrance and the art display ceiling is stunning on arrival, and I understand they change the design periodically.

The serene entrance, gorgeous ceiling design, with security (and lift access) to the right

We swiftly moved through airport style security, straight up to the viewing platform on the 15th floor. Even the mist and rain didn’t spoil it, though certainly its spring and summer photos look extra phenomenol and I cant wait to see it throughout the seasons.  Loved the fact that even though not especially high, you have really good views of the Tower of London and other iconic London buildings as seen in my photos. It was spacious and you got to look down on the chimneys and roofs of old Georgian and Victorian London buildings in the City of London below, which I also enjoyed.

We visited on New Years Eve and the quietness of the place, no doubt also influenced by the weather, was just what was needed for some new year reflecting. From the other photographers I’ve seen of the venue though, it still looks like a blossoming secret and therefore crowds of people would yet to be expected.

One floor below, Its 14th floor restaurant, “14 Hills” offers in decor an elegant mix of a hip 60’s bar, with fresh botanical garden style vibes. There were some groups and parties having drinks and lunch and Sanjay and I were able to sit with our drinks at a window overlooking London and feel like we had escaped the hustle and bustle of London living below us. The drink prices are reasonable, and the service excellent.

There’s no obligation of course to visit the restaurant, though it is a very nice addition if you have the time. Birthday cocktails perhaps?!

This is an amazing little find, for free, and more details of where to find it and other information is available at their website: https://www.thegardenat120.com/

Do let me know if you visit and Happy New Year!
