All the bright lights and lovely colours of Sept days in London, though it’s a sunny day here today isn’t it? I’m quite sure that @roofeast would be a cosy venue for autumn evenings if you’re in the Stratford area too though 🍂
Today I had the day off sick- if there was an inoculation for the common cold, not the flu, I’d take it 100 times over!
It’s been a while, so thought I’d check in with a hello to London in autumn post. I’m loving the colder weather, the fallen leaves and the license to eat even more comfort food than normal!
I’ve got a couple of blog events coming up thanks to @lovepopupslondon , I’m at @mother.works talk on stress and nutrition tomorrow night and meeting some friends this week who I haven’t caught up with in agggges.
I’m enjoying our new home and making recipes from the @thehappypear and everytime I’m leaving @vidabakery I’m basically planning my next visit! Big recommendations on both of these!
We’re still organising our new flat, my diary seems mental, and so I’m trying to keep Sunday’s for cooking, washing and life admin! Solemn note to self not to book anything on those days.
Plan at some point to visit The Garden at 120 which is free access, a good viewing platform apparently and has a coffee shop. It sounds and looks spacious and a great place for a catch up coffee.
What in the world is new with you, and what’s happening in your London agendas?
In the summer we went to the largest Hindu temple outside India- in Wembley, North London. We had no idea of this fact, and found the temple absolutely stunning. The architecture inside and out is amazing.
These photos don’t do it justice, so I totally recommend you google it to check it out, it is of course free to enter, with an exhibition detailing the history of the Hindu religion which was just a couple of pounds when we went.
It’s open 7 days a week and there are free tours, which I’d recommend- we over heard one which we wished we’d taken part in as there was a lot that we’d have loved to have learned more about.
Did you have any idea about this place?
Absolutely stunning! Go go go 💜
Recently I attended a spa with Better Gym, in their Bethnal Green branch with friends after work.
It’s close to the station, the staff are really friendly and everything seemed really clean which were big ticks! We also didn’t pay too much- Treatwell were doing an offer, but apparently you can get 241 so just £26 for two of you if you book via their website.
The downside, which we felt was quite important, is that there’s so swimming pool or jacuzzi to chill out in, and that felt a little strange. But if you’re after something straight forward, cheap, and just to access the various steam and sauna rooms, this one could still be worth a visit 😊💜
I def think cake on a rainy London Monday is the answer, especially with these beauties from @vidabakery 😊
During the week they have a great offer of a large slice of cake and cup of tea for £5.00, all the cakes are vegan and gluten free, and they change their flavours regularly so you never feel that you are stuck for choice when you return!
The first photo is of their Pina Colada flavour cake and the second, taken a few weeks ago, was Berry and something I believe (as you see on Photo 2, I couldn’t wait to take the photo!) The Rainbow cake is always there, but this week they also have flavours such as Chocolate and Orange and Caramel and Latte.
Of course if you want something a bit lighter, there is also their great range of cupcakes and cookies available! I’ve gone with a few friends and everyone has loved it and I love popping in during the week when it’s more quiet 💜
What other London cake shops are on your “must try” lists? 😊
